645-ALLAH’S PROMISE IS TRUE

ALLAH’S PROMISE IS TRUE

(Shumara: 645)

Allah gives us wealth and says, "O My slaves, give Me a goodly loan. I shall give it back to you multiplied many times. This wealth of yours will keep multiplying until it becomes price of the Paradise. Subhaan Allah! How wonderful way of love! Give a goodly loan to Allah. Give a goodly loan to Allah. When this voice comes from the verses of the Holy Qur'an, I am swelled with delight to say that man may sacrifice everything for Allah except clothes on the body.
How wonderful that Master of the heaven and the earth demands loan; the One who gives everything, demands loan from us. He Who can snatch everything at one gesture demands loan. He who renders the indigent king and the king indigent demands loan promising that He will multiply that wealth manifold. According to a report from Hazrat Abu Hurairah, it will be multiplied 1000,000 times and according to another tradition 2000,000 times as: من ذاالذی یقرض اللّٰہ قرضا حسنا Who is there to give a goodly loan to Allah? فیضاعفہ لہ اضعافا کثیرا so that Allah may multiply it many times.
How large will be the amount whom Allah multiplies because Allah brands the wealth of the whole world as little. Then what will be excess in the sight of Allah? Goodluck to those who invest wealth in Jihaad that their transaction is successful. It contains unlimited profit. Hazrat Shah Abdul Qadir writes in the explanation of verse 245 of Surah Al-Baqarah: "Give loan to Allah i.e. spend wealth in Jihaad and do not fear of indigence because Allah has all generosity." (Muzih-ul-Quran)
Successful Transaction: Men trade and transact with one another in the world. There can be profit as well as loss in this trade. Moreover, the trader who always earns profit is called successful whereas he certainly faces loss at times but there is no fear of loss to the man who trades with Allah. There is all profit all the time, very urgent and large profit. Wealth multiplies, the heart recovers, provision for solace in the grave is made and this wealth becomes an asset in the Hereafter also. Venerable Sahaabah traded with Allah investing the small capital they had in Jihaad happily i.e. they gave loan to Allah. When that wealth began to multiply, the treasures of Rome and Persia came under their feet and high stages in the Hereafter became their lot.
These days, the Muslims have great wealth but they do not invest it in Jihaad nor give it as a lean to Allah so there is slavery, worry, unrest and anxiety at every step. The Holy Quran calls out واقرضوا اللّٰہ قرضا حسنا Give a goodly loan to Allah. Allah will multiply it much besides reward in abundance but there are very few who expend on Jihaad.
Witness a Scene: Hazrat Maulana Yusuf Kandhalvi writes, "The Holy Prophet ﷺ persuaded the Muslims to set forth for the Ghazwah Tabook ordering them to spend wealth in the way of Allah. Hence, the Sahaabah spent money generously. First of all, Hazrat abu Bakr brought all his belongings amounting four thousand Dirham. The Holy Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Have you left anything for your family?" Hazrat Abu Bakr said, "Allah and His Messenger." Hazrat Umar brought half his belongings. Hazrat Abbas S/O Abdul-Muttalib and Hazrat Talha S/O Ubaidullah also offered great wealth. Hazrat Aasim S/O 'Adi donated approx five ton dates. Hazrat Usman bore expenses of 1/3 army. He expended the maximum among Sahaabah so much so it was said that nothing more was needed. He even provided needles to mend bags of water. (Hayaat-us-Sahaabah)
The Invisible: Every rich man has to spend wealth willy-nilly. Whether rites of marriage or death, even the most stingy Polytheisist would spend on them and are spending. Common wealthy Muslims also spend lavishly on marriages and deaths. Sometimes wealthy people spend wealth to avoid taunts of the people. A few wealthy people spend wealth just to become famous in family and society. Some people spend wealth to win love and honour so that others may be subdued, salute them pronouncing "Welldone! Welldone!" May Allah protect us against such expenditures because wealth is lost and nothing is gained. Let us now move to the good expenses whose detail is lengthy. You give charity to the poor, widows and beggars, get a thing done for social service etc. all these expenses are goo. May Allah grant every Muslim the capacity to do so but expenditure on Jihaad is wonderful. You subscribe to it for the predominance and security of Islam. You do not subscribe it to an individual so that he may offer thanks to you and be subdued before you nor you give it to make a name in the family rather you have to conceal it from the family lest someone should disclose it. No building has been erected with that wealth that you may be pleased to see it. It becomes known that you subscribe but you have no possibility to have profit or delight in this world apparently. This is invisible expenditure. You are the giver and Allah is the receiver. No request to the world. This expenditure is not visible as there is no building, no video, no movie, so sign board but the invisible things are very great beyond imagination like the sky and the stars rather greater than they. O, Yes, Allah has given very high place to the wealth spent on Jihaad. What need Allah to beg? But in order to multiply it, Allah has demanded it as a loan promising an esteemed reward at it. ولہ اجرکریم
Witness a Scene: Hazrat Abd-ur-Rahman bin Auf spent much wealth on Ghazwah Tabook. He donated nearly eight thousand Dirham in the way of Allah. Hazrat Umar said, "O Messenger of Allahﷺ, I think Hazrat Abd-ur-Rahman bin Auf has become sinful (by spending so much) because he has left nothing for the family." So the Holy Prophetﷺ said to him, "What have you left for your family?" He said, "I have left behind the equal but better in quantity of what I have brought." He said, "How much?" He said, "I have left behind the good that Allah and His Messengerﷺ has promised." (Hayaat-us-Sahaabah)
Think Over a Point: Ghazwah Tabook has been discussed in the Holy Quran in detail along with excellences of those who took part in it and warning to those who stayed behind it. The Sahaabah who spent wealth in it got glad tidings so much so Hazrat Usman was given confirmed glad tidings. Allah gave so great wealth to those who invested in this Ghazwah that the people today are unable to count it. All this is good. Tell me a point, "What happened in that sacred Ghazwah?" Study all the books on life of the Holy Prophetﷺ. There is neither any fight nor a big victory; nothing was gained or built still so great excellences of those who spent wealth in it and who set forth for it and warnings at staying behind it. Actual point is that Jihaad is very dear to Allah. Jihaad is a regular obligation and devotion and a great deed whether it gives a result or ot.
There was no apparent result of Ghazwah Tabook though it had far reaching impacts. The Muslims are told that Jihaad is a great devotion and an elevated deed. It is good luck to wage it and invest in it though the money invested by you is not discernible or it is lost in the dust of journey but it will not be lost with Allah because when you give a loan to an honest person, you are sure of its return. Then who is greater true than Allah? Who can fulfil his promise better than Allah? As you do not see the wealth invested in Jihaad, possibly you are sorrowful that your wealth has flown in dust and scattered in gunpowder. If an Ambulance honking horn had come, you would have watched it and a video had also been made.
Allah has used the word loan to correct this feeling, "Do not search out on the earth what you have given. You have given that to Me as a loan. When you give someone a loan in the world, you do not always search out what he has done with that wealth. You have the fancy that your wealth may be paid back." So the wealth invested in Jihaad is lying with Allah. His promise is to pay it back to you multipled many times. Surely, His promise is true.
