Rang-o-Noor (BY SA'DI)

(Shumara: 587)

The lucky slaves of Allah who learn Din and teach it to others hold a very high and dignified position with Allah. Not I but the Holy Quran has explained this point not in one but so many verses. They are so high-ranked that they are second to the Prophets and Sahaabah provided they learn Din and teach it to others for the good pleasure of Allah and act upon that knowledge. Both the earth and sky weep over the death of such scholars and students. Every Muslim also weeps hearing such news. Alas! A saintly young man practical scholar, Mujaahid, teacher and preacher of Jihaad passed away suddenly yesterday.
How to Erase The Name?: A list is lying before me now. It contains everything which makes the heart proclaim الحمدللہ. This is list of "Phases of Explanation of Verses on Jihaad." It explains that verses on Jihaad will be taught this year at fifty-one places. In the beginning, it used to be held at one or two points only. It means, it has been multiplied for fifty times الحمدللہ الحمدللہ. Only twenty-nine teachers will teach verses on Jihaad this year الحمدللہ الحمدللہ. Formerly, there used to be only one teacher. Now, this number has been raised to twenty-eight الحمدللہ الحمدللہ. A few of the teachers will teach at one place and some others at two places on different dates الحمدللہ الحمدللہ. These teaching phases will be conducted in all the four provinces, Azad Kashmir and tribal areas if Allah wills الحمدللہ الحمدللہ. Thousands of Muslim men and Muslim women get benefit from them and correct their faith, creed and deeds. Allah has blessed us with these explanatory phases in an age when weapons, minds and treasures of the whole world are utilized to wipe out Jihaad in the way of Allah. But a few learned people arise telling the Muslims the verses on Jihaad that Jihaad is not their personal matter but Allah's dictate. Come and listen to Allah's words, understand and decide about it. That list is lying before me now. Every of its line constrains me to proclaim الحمدللہ الحمدللہ. But what is the matter that when I look at two lines, I begin to recite انا للہ وانا الیہ راجعون... انا للہ وانا الیہ راجعون One line reads "Maulana Maamoon Iqbal in Dera Ismaail Khan." The other line reads, "Maulan Maamoon Iqbal at Haripur. انا للہ وانا الیہ راجعون... انا للہ وانا الیہ راجعون The late Maulan Maamoon Iqbal would teach verses on Jihaad very fondly. His teaching style was appreciated. This year, he was to teach these verses at two places. But he passed away yesterday. Now, how should we erase his name from this list?
Listen To A True Tale: Hafiz Ibn Battaal writes the following incident with his authenticity. The gist is given below: Imaam Yahya says, "When Allah instilled in me the fondness for acquiring knowledge, I with my companions approached Imaam Maalik in Madinah. Imaam Maalik inquired my name the very first day which I told him. I was the youngest of all my companions. Hazrat Imaam Maalik said to me '' یا یحییٰ اللہ، اللہ علیک بالجد فی ہذا الامر It means he proclaimed Allah, Allah and advised me to put in hard labour to seek knowledge. "I shall soon tell you an incident hearing which fondness for seeking knowledge will be enhaunced and you will be uninterested in other things." Then he told the following incident.
A Syrian young man came to Madinah to seek knowledge. He put in hard labour in acquiring knowledge but died all of a sudden. In his funeral, I witnessed a thing which I had never witnessed before. I noted all the Ulama of Madinah trying to attend his funeral. Seeing this scene, the Governor of Madinah got the funeral prayer stopped and announced, "The people of Madinah should request their dearest and eldest saint to lead the prayer." The Ulama and the masses requested Imaam Rabeeah to lead it. Imaam Rabeeah took all the learned people with him, landed the young man in the grave covering all the stages of burial. On third day of burial, a famous saint of Madinah saw that young man in dream. He was very beautiful. He was wearing green turban, riding a horse and descending from the sky was saying, "I have been blessed with this position due to knowledge. Allah has raised my status in lieu of every chapter I read. Still I could not reach the position of learned people." Then Allah said, "Bless the inheritors of My Prophets. I have it to Me to collect all those who die in a state that they follow My Sunnah and that of My Messengers or they are students."
After this dictate of Allah, I was also raised to the position of the learned people. There is distance of two stages between this stage and that of our Holy Prophet ﷺ. Then there is the stage of learned people. I was taken there. When I reached there, the learned people welcomed me again and again. This is my position. Besides this, Allah has blessed me with so much." The saint said, "What is that more?" The young man said, " Allah will say to the learned people on the Day of Resurrection: O the learned people, this is My Paradise which I have made lawful to you. This is My good-pleasure which I have blessed you with but you will not enter the Paradise until you tell me about every of your wish and intercession so that I may fulfil it and absolve those whom you intercede so that people may watch your position and status with Me.
In the morning, that saint told the dream to the learned people which spread everywhere soon. There were a few people in Madinah who used to seek knowledge but afterwards they left it. Hearing this incident, they also came back with new zeal and zest. These days, they are among learned people of the city. O Yahya, put in hard labour to seek knowledge. These words of Hazrat Imaam Maalik were imrinted on the mind of that youngman who was then included in the renowed scholars of that age.
I read this incident long ago but it began to strike me when I received the news of demise of Brother Maamoon whose whole but short span of life was spent in learning and Jihaad. He died in hardness. He memorised the Holy Quran in childhood then got busy with seeking religious knowledge. Then he kept imparting religious knowledge and waging Jihaad without any break no matter what adverse circumstance befell. All his life was sacred. When he died, everyone blurted out "Shahaadat! Shahaadat! There was sweat on his forehead, smile and peace on his lips and wild passions of love everywhere. Apparently, he was silent by nature but he lived in the hearts of the Muslims. It came to be known at the time of his death. O yes! He spent all his life at Allah's door and faith. Allah also showered His acceptance and love on him. On his last day, he went to the Madrassah and after teaching a class, he was about to move to another room that he fell unconscious. He was shifted to the hospital but he met his Lord after a few hours. He was buried in the graveyard of the Madrassah by the side of his dear uncle.
So Many Relations: Maulana Maamoon Iqbal remained my silent companion and cooperative. He was my paternal as well as meternal cousin. He had been a very precious member of the organization from the very first day. He had also pledged Allegiance on reformation with me. He always helped and cooperated with me in every of my activity. These days, he had been running administration of Jaamia-as-Saabir so skilfully that every piece of stone was shedding tears yesterday. Thanks to all those who condoled with me on this bereavement and managed to convey reward to the late Maulana. May Allah bless Maulana with forgiveness, Shahaadat and respect, bless the members of his family with fortitude and make all his four innocent orphans with good luck! Aameen! آمین یا ارحم الراحمین
